I love this simple scarf – you can wear it wrapped around your neck for a ruffled effect – right on trend. It can be made from all recycled materials. All you have to know how to do is braid, shred, and tie!

EXPLOSION SCARF
Materials needed:
1 ball(?) of yarn (one colour or multliple colours of new or scrap yarn)
Fabric for shredding (one colour or multliple colours of scrap fabric)
*Cut 15 strands of yarn to a bit longer than desired finish length. I like them long about 60”.
*Knot one end
*Devide into 3 parts and Braid to end and knot
*Rip strips of fabric to about 1” wide strips and cut into 3 inch lengths
*Tie them to the braid all bunched together with contrasting or same colour yarn
Suggestions for materials:
An old pair of jeans or two for a variety of shading. (see photo)
Old tee shirts
Metallic fabrics alone or mixed with matte
Don’t have anything to shred? Check out the charity shops
Variations :
1 -attach fabric to only 5 or 6 inches of braid ends for a tassel effect. (see photo)
2 -crochet 3 inch lengths of chain from scrap yarns to tie on between bits of fabric for more colour and texture. (see photo)
