Faerie -- I was thinking of housing some of my things in origami boxes, but after making the first few, I realized I didn't have the stamina to keep it up!

I use origami techniques to create OOAK boxes to house my faerie treasures for shipping to their new owners. I use old faerie calendars and my customers collect the containers I make; they say they are too lovely to throw away! I also hand make paper and, as thank you gifts, I create origami envelopes and place 2 sheets of hand made stationary inside. Origami makes going green and recycling fun!

Hey Kelly! There are a lot of great places where you can find beginner's diagrams to get yourself familiar with it! I think Origami Club is a great place to find starting diagrams! I'm the kind of person that gets frustrated when I look at paper diagrams, but Origami Club animates them and it really helps me understand how to do the folds. Also, youtube is a great resource for Origami videos!

As for supplies, you can find regular Origami paper at any large chain retailer (Michaels, Joanne's, AC Moore, etc). What I tend to do is practice the model on a white piece of printer paper before using my good paper to try! I know the Michaels around me also sells different kits that come with paper and easy diagrams to get your feet wet.

After you are comfortable with traditional origami, playing with modular origami is very fun! You make several "pieces" and fit them together to make different shapes. I hope that helps, but feel free to bring any questions and comments here and I'll try to help!

I would love to try Orgami, can you point me in the right direction to get the supplies and instructions?

Thanks!
