Hello, I'm Nancy with the website that has the hyphenated name: www.ItsSewYou-llc.com Why the hyphen - After I had formed my LLC, my website name was already taken, so I just added the "-llc.com", and "wa...la" I now have my new online shop, and I just love it the most! I've been in business for over one month now, and have averaged about 2 sales per week. I do have another shop on "Etsy..com", which I hope to eventually drop, although most of my sales are from the Etsy site. After the many, many years of doing the "craft" and needlework that I just love, I was completely "terrified" establishing a website and creating accounts on "Twitter, MCC, etc." These accounts have really generated a few more "clicks" and views on my site, which is always a good thing! I'm still tweeking my website, and would appreciate your constructive criticism.....Really, I would! This discussion group is needed and I Thank you for your time......

oh it took me more than a year to deeply understand how Search Engine Optimization really work. I saw how beneficial it is after about 6 months since I build me webstorehttp://www.allnaturalcosmetics4u.com . It is now one year old and I am so happy with the progress.

I am slowly learning what you're saying.
However, I have signed up for the SBI hosting and teaching, and so have started anew, while keeping prior. The earlier sites have had little to no traffic. I am seriously considering dropping Artfire due to lack of sales. Still working on the new site. As of today am about 80 percent done. Ready to add sales gallery after the next few content pages. SBI has taught me much about key words, the importance of file names, titles, meta tags, etc.
The problem is that my learning curve has increased with my age. LOL

The older your URL the older your website is. And the older your website, the more quality traffic it will get.

Also everytime you change the URL of your website, you loose the value of your website. Redirecting the traffic helps but it is still important to have good Page Rank if you want to be successful on this online business. Online business is all about your business website.

Correct me if I am wrong but I know at etsy, artfire and sites like that have monthly fee. and the visitor that your website will get are visitors of that site only. People all over the world use either Google, yahoo or MSN.. No matter what other sites do, all those small website still get most of their informations from this three Search Engines.

You can get free advertisement from these three search engines only if you know how. it may take time though, but once you're up there, you don't need to do anything but maintain the quality of your website by continously getting backlinks or incoming links to your website.

First you have to know the words, or the right words for your products. be specific.. Then know the right phrases that best describe your products. Example... if your product is "bag" you can make " discount bag" or "school bag" ..

This phrases should appear on the url, title and description on your website. Example...URL: " www, bigschoolbags.com"... Title : School Bags.. Description: Schools Bag for every blablabla.... Now this word and word phrases should appear on the whole home page of your website from top to bottom. Visit this website and learn about the basic SEO http://www.webconfs.com/keyword-density-checker.php

It's not about how beautiful the design of your website, but it is about how your market your products.

This basic seo should go along with the friendliness and easy navigation of your website. Always put yourself as the customer and visitor of your website and see what changes your website needs as a customer or buyer's point of view.

I only have one webstore. I have 5 blogs where I regularly write articles about my products. This , I have 1 order from Australia, 1 from Puerto Rico, 2 from USA and one from Canada few minutes ago. I am receiving 2 to 5 inquiries about my products everyday. The traffic of my webstore is increasing every month.

And I am not spending money for any site to promote my website except for the domain of my website. and $10 annually fee for the domain each of my blogs
