Nice article...I didn't know that potters weren't considered artists in some circles...art comes in many forms...just because you don't know exactly what it will look like until it comes out of the kiln should make no difference. I can't believe that all "real" artists always know how something will turn out before they make it...they may know what they want it to look like, but seldom does our work meet what our mind wants it to be. but that doesn't mean its not art. Its like the questions mothers get "do you work?"...as if a mother's work doesn't count...I think its just uninformed people in some cases. If they ask if you are a potter or an artist, the answer is "yes."

Good answer. I follow a potter who works out of her studio at her house and raises her kids, can you imagine how difficult that must be for her when people don't quite get that she has 2 full time jobs.
