My Craft Corner

Im just curious. Are you over 40 or under? How long have you been crafting? And what? If you sell, is it you only source of income?

So me Im under 40, I have been designing clothing forever starting with Barbie ponchos. And this is my source of income and I love every tiresome day of it.

Thanks and hope everyone is having a wonderful start of a new year.

I am over 40 and hope to make this a good source of income due to the fact that we just moved to a very small country town where its not what you know its who you know or are related to if you know what I mean. I have always just gone to an interview and got the job, very simple, very easy. Now I really enjoy what I am doing with a passion. I am just having a hard time getting exposure. Good luck Lisa:)

Not you its January.

I totally agree. Turn your back for one minute and your online business just lays down and curls up its toes! I've noticed that January is a funny old month, business is slow and nobody is parting with their money. Or is it just me?

I am over 40:(. I have been crafting in some form or another for about 25 years. For the last couple of years I have made (and still do) soy candles and melt, decorative switch plate covers and decorative picture frames. I also knit, quilt, and get some sewing in at times.

And, yes, this is my only source of income. I have Fibromyalgia, arthritis, and stenosis of the spine so I am no longer able to do the factory work I have done in the past. So I have become a stay at home housewife with a hobby-turned-business.

I sell online at Etsy.com and at www.ShallowCreekCrafts.com also at crafts shows in the Ohio Valley area.

I am under 40. I have been crocheting for about 8 or 9 years. I have been designing for 2. I started with granny squares a lady I worked with showed me how! This is my source of income (but my husband is the bread winner) and I LOVE it! I still crochet for fun too!

I am well over 40 and have been crafting in some form since I was 15. My first adventure was being taught to knit slippers as occupational therapy in a hospital. Since then I have done knitting, crocheting, ceramics, macrame, cross-stitch, and now jewelry. When my kids were small I made a lot of spending money by selling knit and crochet items. Jewelry was a hobby, but after becoming disabled and losing my job, it is now my only income.

I am under 40, (24 to be exact)! I've been crafting since I was a little girl. My mom was always trying to keep my hands busy so I've been constantly dabbling in and out of crafts. I had planned to go to school for art, but I now find myself in a PhD program from Art History. But even though my work-day consists of reading and teaching, I always try to do some kind of creative activity at night, origami being my favorite...

So I've been doing origami for a few years now and just recently decided to make a small business venture on etsy :)

Hi - Im under 40 (25) . I have been sewing since 12, I have 2 little girls & love to sew them dresses & enjoy making quilts for friends & family. I have been designing & making jewelry for a little over a year now & love it! Since having my first daughter (almost 3 now) I've become a stay at home mom & needed to make some extra income. I was nervous to start my little adventure but now am glad I did. Then end of my first year went very well & I closed my online store for a little while to get ready for the new baby & restock. In the meantime I've posted a few items on etsy and am planning on reopening in February. I'm hoping this year's sales will be similar to the end of last years! I would consider this as extra income, helping out when work is slow for my husband (contractor) & hopefully when things pick up economically start putting aside for vacation $ : )
