My Craft Corner

Is there a craft that just doesn't agree with you? (Question 3)

Some crafts just aren't for some people. I, for one, am not good at things that involve glue... it never ends well... you can use your imagination. What about you? Are there any crafts you've tried and didn't like or they didn't like you?

With counted cross stitch you work from the center of the design out. You fold your fabric in fourths to find the center of your piece and start your stitching there..I used to cross stitch a LOT!! The pattern always has some kind of arrows to help you find the middle of it.

Yes, I am not into Knitting, I can't seam to remember if I just purled or knitted, and counted cross stitch, I never get the image in the middle of the fabric.. I do love to do crewel and crochet work... and hand quilt, but don't like to construct the quilt...

I am always trying the lastest crafting idea, and love learning a new skill....

I like to knit with fun fur..It usually helps to knit it along with a strand of baby or sport weight yarn though..I have problems with my grip and it gives me more to hold on to.

I'm amazed at the responses for knitting! It is one of my favorite things to do! HOWEVER...I can't stand fun fur or eyelash yarn. Anything to do with that stuff and I cringe!

Sewing. The two times I tried, I sewed up the collars of the pieces I was making. Embarrassing. I tried lampworking, burned my thigh and the cover of the stool I was sitting on. However, ahem, I may try it again so...watch out ;)

I cannot get into knitting to save my life. I love knitting patterns and items they are gorgeous. I just cannot get into it. I have started a few projects, but I always unravel them and crochet them instead. I also really suck at hand sewing, but I think that is more of a lack of practice thing.

Stain glass, I love the look and the feel and the colors, tried it and it just wasn't for me. I was really bummed about it too!! I guess I'll stick with my sons plastic ones!! lol

anything involving paint... I can't paint wood, walls, pictures, solid colors LOL. It's quite interesting when I try. I don't have the patience to paint a wall or the talent to paint anything else... I'm so sad LOL

Crochet. I can do a chain. It stops there LOL. I want to learn but no matter how many tutorials I watch and how much I practice I just end up with rubbish. Oh, I can do some kind of freeform thing joining my chains together, but don't ask me to count. I once tried to do a yellow circle, once it grew to 2-3 inches in diameter, it turned into Pikachu!

PHOTOGRAPHY! I cannot take a picture to save my life! I have spent days, weeks, worth of hours studying online in etsy forums, storque, chatrooms, emailing my photography friends, three library books, I feel like I should at least have an associates degree in photography, but I'm a D student! It is a necessary part of selling online though, so I keep trying!

You betcha you. Knitting and crocheting! My mom tried and tried to help me get the hang of it.

Woodworking- my hubby won't let me near any cutting tools.
I think that Glass Etching would be fun but my right hand tends to shake. :(
Many years ago I was into knitting and crocheting but not any more.
I do not like to sew, I have a Sewing Machine but I never use it. We do not get along!

Anything that can't be easily undone, which is pretty much anything that requires scissors/cutting. LOL I'm good with digital scrapbooking/crafts because I love Apple-Z (Ctrl-Z for PCers) and knit/crochet & beading/jewelry, you can always rip out & start over as long as you don't cut the yarn/string/wire. I find those crafts very forgiving.

I'm really not that great at knitting. I greatly prefer crocheting. The one thing that really doesn't seem to work for me is crocheting hats. Every time I've tried, it's turned into a pillow. No matter what patterns or stitches I try, the hat gets bigger and bigger and bigger, and can't seem to stay head-sized. The picture below is actually the last "hat" I made. I still need to fill it for a nice throw pillow. :-)
