My Craft Corner

I guess you call it suffering from trying to do too many things all at once.  I'm spinning my wheels, here, and I can't even figure out how to use MCC to best advanage.
I have shops on Etsy, Artfire, (and Bonanzle, for my non-crafty stuff), and I Twitter & Face Book trying to promote...without being a spamming-Tweeter. ....

I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day to keep up with creating, listing, promoting, blogging, and still take care of household duties....so here I sit, staring at the computer screen...accomplishing exactly nothing!  AAaaaaggghhhhh!!!

We have all had days like that!
Perhaps what I do will help you. At night, when all is quiet, I make a list for the next day. Not an exact list but one with ideas of what I want to accomplish. The next morning after everyone is up and at 'em, I grab my list and begin with it. It does seem to help some. Hope it helps you.

Thanks, June...

I am a list-maker...sometimes ridiculously so. I've been known to tackle a task not on the list, then add it to the list after the fact, just so I can have the satisfaction of crossing something off the list! :-O LOL

My more immediate problem, though, is I just don't know how to use MCC to best advantage.

...Cheers... Lizzy

I am feeling more like, we all have months. . maybe years like that.
I too am trying to balance more than I should.

But sometimes you need to regroup and do nothing. When your head just isn't in it you won't be productive, so take that breather when you need it.

Hello Liz,
I'm sorry that things seem a bit overwhelming to you right now. I think that we've ALL had those kind of days. :) Promotion is a lot of hard work, and it definitely can take up a good deal of your day. From photographing items, to writing listings and coming up with prices. Sometimes I get so frazzled that I feel like ripping my hair out, but I just try and stay focused and get the job done.

In answer to your query about how to best use My Craft Corner...please think of our place as one big DIY crafty family! As artisans and crafters, we are all in this together! My Craft Corner is all about friendship and lending a helping hand. Perhaps you can friend up some more folks with similar interests (and welcome newbies) or join a few more groups (better yet, start one up!)~let folks here know who you are! If you have any upcoming sales or special coupons, post them on your page or set it up as an event. Or let Reggie know and she'd be happy to spread the word for you! You might wish to join the My Craft Corner Members Only Discount group and offer up a special something just for members (maybe free shipping?). No one will think you are spamming. Not only are we crafters but we are also shoppers. We all like to gift ourselves from time to time or treat someone special to a little something. And sharing all our lovely work here for everyone creates such a truly intimate network~like we are getting the first scoop at discovering an amazing wealth of talented artisans before anyone else!
I have regularly posted and emailed group members with special messages regarding sales at my etsy shop, joining my facebook page, visiting my blog. I have made SO many great friends on My Craft Corner~relationships that I never would have crafted had I not been invited by Reggie to join last August. I'm a member of a few other networks, but this is the one place I consider HOME. Everyone has been truly supportive, for which I am most grateful. They've helped me by featuring me on their blogs, tweeting about my sales and new items, and joining my Facebook page. I cannot express how much everyone's friendship has meant to me. And I reciprocate in kind. :)
Please feel free to chat with me anytime with questions or concerns about My Craft Corner. And remember that Reggie is always available to assist you with your needs as well. :) Let us all know what you have coming up, and we'll do our best to chat it up for you. The more assistance with promotion, the better, because it is such hard work.
Sincerely, Theresa

I've felt like that too Lizzy. Here is my simple approach to keeping everything manageable I do one thing everyday. That's it. Sometimes I rearrage items in my store, or maybe I take photographs, other days I post on my blog or check what's going on in the forums, other days I look for ways to advertise or market. Breaking all the overwhelming stuff into smaller chunks that can be handled a little everyday really worked for me. No one expects you to update your blog, twitter or facebook everyday, some people may even find that sort of thing annoying. I try to do that sort of thing about twice a week, enough to keep regular readers interested, and a level I find easy to keep up with.

I can understand the impulse to try to tackle everything all at once when you are starting up your business, but what I've learned over the past few months is that your efforts are cummulative, doing a little good quality work everyday equals more views and business than a whole lot of badly done things all at once.

Love your avatar, I have cat that looks exactly the same!

Actually MCC is the one place I can go where I don't feel stressed. I'm on Artfire and Etsy, manage a guild and run a group on here, a Facebook fan page, emails, etc., etc., and there are times I feel like I am on the computer constantly. But here, no stress. I use this to my advantage as a place to hange out, greet other crafters, make friends, and share ideas. It's really just kind of relaxed here. I think faeriemoongoddess gave it the best spin in her post. This is where you come when you just want to bump around for a while. I usually take a few moments to look at the new member list and do a little hob nobbing. I look at their stuff, leave a comment and welcome them to the group - when I get a chance. It's not something I press myself to do. So come in, sit a spell, have some tea, or coffee, or a Rita, whatever - and just relax for a few moments.

Hi Lizzy,
I, too, feel that way. I am so new at all this cyber selling and blogging and posting online that I just feel like I'm chasing my tail. I haven't come up with a good solution yet. I work full time and have way too many cats and do craft shows all year and have recently suffered from a serious illness that put everything on the back burner. I do like the idea of doing one thing a day. The lists I make seem too unrealistic and there never seems to be enough time in one day to accomplish them all and then I get frustrated because I didn't do them all. Maybe, we should keep posting and I'll tell you what I accomplished in a day and you can tell me or we can tell each other what we didn't get done and maybe we can support each other! I do think that the first priority is creating-- if we don't make anything then we won't have anything to blog or promote! I'm off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so, those two days I will create. Monday, is for cleaning house and posting and blogging. After that, I haven't come up with a good plan yet.LOL Keep me posted. Vitta http://www.artfire.com/users/night_owl2704

Lizzy, I just joined MCC this week, so I can't offer any advise. But I think that looking around and seeing what others are doing is where I'm going to start. I like the site, and look forward learning more about it.

Thanks so much to everyone for your input! I'm going to play 'delicatessen,' now, and pick and choose those bits that make sense in my situation, and move forward from there. ;-)

Oh my God, too funny! I add non-list things to the list and cross them off, too! :)

l do the same thing too! I make a list & then spend a lot of time on something not on the list - I have to add it just to be able to cross it off! By the way, I just joined MCC today.
