My Craft Corner

I'm wondering what everyone does for their craft space. Do you have a dedicated room for all your craft activities? Is it in a room shared with other stuff? Do you have a great organizing system for it?

I do many different crafts and I'm always finding it hard to organize and store everything in a way that makes it easy to put away and easy to get to. My craft stuff is all in my office, though it's a fairly large room. I wouldn't argue that it's that well organized though, nor is it a terribly inspiring place. I need to work on it.

I have a small space that I call my "studio" but when I say small...I mean very small. My computer, two book shelves, bins of yarn, bins of material, bins of craft supplies, and my sewing machine are all in it. And since it used to be part of the attic, the ceiling is triangler so I don't have a lot of wall space. I have a lousy organizing system, but only because of the lack of space. I know where everything is, though, but no one else could find something if I asked them to, probably.

I *wish* I was organized about my crafting, but I only live in a one-bedroom apt, so there is little space to begin with!! I have stuff all over my living room and desk which I wish wasn't the case... I really need to get everything together :(

I try to be organized with my crafting space, but I fail big time at it! I have plastic tubs that I tried organizing things into, like glue in one tub and papers in another, but as soon as I open one of the tubs I can't find my glue and the paper is in the glue tub.

One day though...I'll organize everything perfectly and it'll stay that way longer then an hour or two, lol.

As for my crafting space I do have a craft table In my office, but honestly I prefer going outdoors in the sun to work or somewhere different every time. I seem to lose inspiration if I just craft in one location, so changing it up always inspires new ideas for me.

Thanks for posting about your space! I'm already getting some ideas! I have tried a bunch of different organizing things. I have big plastic bins for my fabric and my sewing stuff. I have some smaller pretty cardboard boxes (that stack inside each other) that I have labeled and those store a lot of the collections of things. (I have 1 for eyelets, 1 for adhesives, etc.). I have some plastic stacking drawers that I keep various things in and I have various baskets for ongoing projects and stuff. The problem is that much of it is stuffed into the closet so to get to one thing, you have to lift the stuff off the top. The sewing stuff is under my crafting table so it's in the way a lot. We recently built some bookshelves into my daughters room so the stand alone bookshelf we took out of there is getting a new stain today and I'm hoping I'll be able to use that in my craft room to give me some more storage space. But then all my mismatched organization things are going to be really obvious. I guess this room is a work in progress! :)

I work from home, so my home office is also my craft space! I have A LOT of boxes where I store all my supplies, but what I really need is a tall cupboard where I can store my finished products. I'm currently saving up for this :)

I have a closet in the guest bedroom where I keep most of my crafts. Now that I'm selling things on Etsy, I also bought a rolling cart to take my supplies around the house so I can work where I want. I'm always trying to find better ways to organize, but I have found a lot of great little boxes and hanging organizers at Ikea.

I wish I did! It's the dining table for me, and all of my craft supplies are scattered in various boxes and plastic storage bins throughout our house. It's not convenient, but at least it's fairly organized.

Since my daughter is in college and has an apartment, I turned her bedroom into my studio (with her permission, of course) I repainted the room, made new curtains, and hung a huge Kente cloth weaving I've had for years. I have two tables, one for beading and one for enameling, and my husband put up lots of shelves. It is truly my happy place. I did leave my daughter a corner with her bed and dresser, but I keep eying that and thinking how a sewing table would fit perfectly there!

I do have a craft space. We just got our office organized enough for me to craft in. It is sort of organized right now (mainly because we just moved in to it so everything is in its place, for now) but it will not be for long. I have a hard time being organized because my creative spirit sometimes catches me by surprise and I leap up to do something else without cleaning up what I was doing.
I used to craft in our living room, but that was dreadful. Every time we had people over I had to dash around and pick up everything!

I did not have a well defined place for my crafts, until my fiancee decided it was time. So he built me a table, and now half of my living room is my CRAFTING AREA :)
Now I can really enjoy doing my cards!

I do not have a separate room for my crafting or my supplies. So since we seldom have company I took over the Dining Room Area.
I have stacked drawers on rollers where I keep all my crafts that are done. They are all labeled and in zip-lock bags. My Spirals that are done are kept in long plastic tubs. They sit on top of each other. I have a desk and a craft table.
I have a top open Hutch with drawers; on the top shelves I keep my beads in containers. The two long drawers I have crafts that are done.
Every space is filled. It is my space and no one comes in it unless I invite them!
When our daughter, Lauren goes off to college(in one year) I am going to move into her " Extra Room".
I bought this cool stand at a Yard sale it has 4 wide wire shelves and I keep all my Mini Crates on it; ones that have been painted and ones that I need to paint.
I definitely need more space but I can wait a year for more.
